Serbia is a member of the China-CEEC Summit mechanism (" 17+1 "cooperation) and the BRI.
Serbia is a country in urgent need of infrastructure construction, and China is one of Serbia's key partners in infrastructure construction.
So far, Chinese investment in Serbia's infrastructure sector has focused on key infrastructure sectors such as Bridges, railways, highways and the energy sector, which has promoted relations between the two sides.
Although the political environment in Serbia has been relatively stable now, it is exposed to the risks of terrorist attacks, regional disputes and domestic political disputes, due to its special geographical location and history, Therefore, it is particularly important to conduct security assessment for infrastructure construction in Serbia.
This report aims to evaluate and study the security situation of infrastructure in Serbia through analyzing the geopolitical environment, domestic and international political environment in Serbia, combining the experience of the United States, Canada and the European Union in infrastructure protection.
It is found that infrastructure projects in Serbia do have the potential to be affected by terrorist attacks, equipment failures, the outbreak of international and domestic political disputes, or natural disasters.
Therefore, it is needed for Serbia to strengthen the security of infrastructure construction, especially critical infrastructure construction.
Serbia is also trying to bring its infrastructure up to EU standards as an entry advantage.
Meanwhile,it concludes that with Serbia's access to the "17+1" cooperation and the BRI, China-Serbia cooperation in infrastructure construction has been strengthened and deepened.
On the one hand, the Serbian government has begun to increase cooperation with China in the field of infrastructure.
On the other hand, The Chinese government and companies have also increased investment in Serbia, currently focused on key infrastructure.
At present, although the two sides have taken key steps in infrastructure cooperation, there is still a lot of work to be done in the future, including legal and practical work.
