Zhang Jun:The Belt and Road Initiative is Like an Upgraded Foreign Aid
Nowadays,
the majority of the enterprises that have invested in countries along the Belt
and Road are the state-owned enterprises. This is generally consistent with the
principal strategy of foreign aid. In this vein, the promotion of the Belt and
Road Initiative can impel more state-owned enterprises to participate in local
infrastructure construction. On the contrary, Chinese private enterprises may
be have the same incentive to join in this ongoing process. Therefore, in the
next ten years, investment in the infrastructure remains the key investment,
whereas the merger and acquisition may not constitute a plausible mainstream.
