Founded under the framework cooperation agreement between Fudan University and the government of Gansu Province, the institute is built by Fudan University and Hexi University. It conducts the research on ancient silk roads in the Hexi Corridor, covering areas such as history, culture, ecology, environment, and development of the "golden section" of the Silk Road.
